

๐๏ธ Glacier National Park โ 2026 Visitor Update
No More Vehicle Reservations! For the first time since 2021, vehicle reservations will not be required anywhere in the park in 2026 U.S. National Park Service โ including Going-to-the-Sun Road, Many Glacier, Two Medicine, and the North Fork. Drive in at any time of day, no advance booking needed.
What’s New Instead:
- The park will pilot a ticketed-only Going-to-the-Sun Road shuttle system with early morning express routes to Logan Pass. nps
- Shuttle tickets are available on Recreation.gov on a first-come, first-served basis. A portion open 60 days in advance starting May 2, 2026 at 8 a.m. MDT; remaining tickets release at 7 p.m. MDT the night before. nps
- Shuttle tickets cost only a $1 Recreation.gov processing fee per ticket and are non-transferable. nps
Logan Pass Parking โ New 3-Hour Limit
- Beginning July 1 (weather permitting), all private vehicles are limited to a maximum 3-hour stay at Logan Pass. nps
- Overnight parking is not permitted, except for permitted backcountry users and guests of Granite Park Chalet. nps
- Planning longer hikes like the Highline Trail? Visitors planning longer hikes beginning at Logan Pass will need a shuttle ticket. nps
Shuttle Routes โ Rising Sun (East Side)
- East side routes provide express service to Logan Pass, departing from St. Mary Visitor Center and Rising Sun. nps This makes Rising Sun a great staging point for accessing Logan Pass from the east.
- Shuttle riders will be able to transfer between west and east side routes at Logan Pass. nps
Heads Up โ Possible Temporary Closures
- Park officials plan to take a reactive approach to congestion and may temporarily shut down areas that become overcrowded โ particularly Two Medicine and Many Glacier. Daily Inter Lake
- Visitors with lodging, camping, or service reservations will still be allowed entry during these periods.
Crossing into Canada (Waterton Lakes)
- The Chief Mountain Port of Entry is the main seasonal road crossing between Glacier and Waterton Lakes National Parks. Parks Canada
- It is open May 15 โ September 30. Summer hours (June 1 โ Labor Day) are 7 a.m. โ 10 p.m. MDT. ezbordercrossing
- A valid passport is required. U.S. national park passes are not valid in Canadian parks Glaciermt โ a separate Parks Canada pass/fee is required.
- Crossing by boat or foot via Goat Haunt? All visitors must report entry to U.S. Customs and Border Protection through the CBP ROAM app on the day of crossing. Parks Canada
Still Required for All Entry:
- A valid park entrance pass (separate from any reservation or shuttle ticket): $35/vehicle for 7 days, or an Interagency Annual/Lifetime Pass.
